This is a mingle of several ideas, don't expect very much coherency.
Requirements: Age factor affects characters
Description:
The idea relies on the fact that some Skills decrease with age. It's a slow process but gets more severe as the character ages for fighting skills, whereas magic skills could actually get a boost.
Age in character creation influences the number of skill and stat points a character receives.
For example a very young character would have limited points and choices during character creation, but a myriad of selections at his disposal during the game, basically allowing him to grow and learn.
An older character has a more limited selection and must choose some form of character templates but it has more points to distribute during character creation. In game though, his selections are more limited and advancement harder because he has already attained considerable knowledge.
What this means:
Consistency in roleplay background story!
Age factor & free distribution of points allows a character to start whenever and however they want. You no longer have to roleplay your are powerful mage but your character skills do not support it. But, there is a price to pay for it!
A full fledged character (older) has more skills and points but also more chances of decay as time passes, whereas a new young character has more choices at his disposal, decay is non-existant until a certain age, but he will have to do all the training on his own.
Some points decrease with age, other increase, so the age factor adds a bit of controlled randomness and more fun.
